Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) is the
“Halal Administration”, the government entity responsible for
halal certification in Indonesia
According to the Halal Product Assurance Law, officially enforced on Oct. 17, 2019, the MUI and the affiliated audit institute LPPOM MUI,
which previously handled halal certification, were now given specific roles such as legal review and audit practices.
Also, an additional procedure was added, which was receiving certification applications and issuing the final certificates from BPJPH.
Even after the establishment of BPJPH, the audit remains the same and is conducted by LPPOM MUI,
with an additional procedure where one applies for the halal certification at BPJPH, which will issue the final certificate.
The BPJPH certificate is valid for four years and all imported products exported to Indonesia require a BPJPH registration and certificate.
